'Extrapolations': Forest Whitaker, Marion Cotillard, Tobey Maguire & Eiza Gonzalez Join The Already Stacked Cast Of Apple TV+ Series

Apple TV+ is not afraid to show off its seemingly endless bank account to hype up an upcoming project. From the first moment Apple TV+ was announced, the marketing was a parade of famous actors and filmmakers, all promoting some new TV series or film. And taking the “Field of Dreams”-esque maxim of “If we fill out a TV series or film with A-list actors and filmmakers, the subscribers will follow,” is continuing on two years after the fact. Case in point—Scott Z. Burns’ upcoming anthology drama series, “Extrapolations.”

According to Deadline, the already ridiculously stacked cast for the climate change anthology series, “Extrapolations,” is growing even bigger with some major new additions. Forest Whitaker, Marion Cotillard, Tobey Maguire, and Eiza Gonzalez are just the latest actors to join the cast that already includes Meryl Streep, Sienna Miller, Kit Harington, Tahar Rahim, Matthew Rhys, Daveed Diggs, Gemma Chan, David Schwimmer, and Adarsh Gourav. Seriously, this is getting out of hand, right?

For those unaware, “Extrapolations” comes from writer-director-creator Scott Z. Burns, who recently directed the Amazon drama, “The Report,” but is probably best known for his screenplays for films such as “The Informant,” “Contagion,” “The Laundromat,” and “The Bourne Ultimatum.” His Apple TV+ series is an anthology that tells eight disparate (but interconnected) stories about how climate change affects society in various ways. In the series, Whitaker is set to play a small-time investor August Bolo, while Cotillard plays art dealer Sylvie Bolo, Maguire plays kelp farmer Nic, and Gonzalez plays artist and influencer Elodie.

“Extrapolations” is currently in production, so it’s unclear if Burns and Apple TV+ are hiding even more A-listers in the cast. With production underway now, we can likely expect the series to debut sometime in 2022.
