According to Variety, Taylor-Joy, who Miller previously confirmed has been in discussions for the role of a younger version of Charlize Theron’s ‘Mad Max’ character, is being joined by Chris Hemsworth and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in the cast of the ‘Furiosa’ film. Details about the plot are still unknown, but it’s expected to cover the early days of the title character and how she would grow to become a war captain under Immortan Joe and eventually a revolutionary figure in the world. The film is set to be directed by Miller, who co-wrote the script with Nick Lathouris. Both men worked on ‘Fury Road’ together.

Taylor-Joy is probably best known for her work in films such as “Thoroughbreds” and “Split.” She’s also recently appeared in the acclaimed period comedy, “Emma,” as well as “The New Mutants,” and will next be seen in the Netflix drama series, “The Queen’s Gambit.”

Hemsworth is, well, Thor. Yeah, 99.9% of the world knows the actor as the man who wields the hammer in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He’s also not someone that is shy about exploring new franchises and recently starred in the action film, “Extraction,” which became one of the biggest films in Netflix history.

Abdul-Mateen II is one of the biggest rising stars in Hollywood, after some incredible supporting roles in films and TV series. Perhaps he’s best known for his recent Emmy-winning role in the HBO series, “Watchmen.” He’s also set to appear in the upcoming franchise film, “The Matrix 4.”

To say this is a pretty great cast for ‘Furiosa’ is an understatement. It’s clear that Warner Bros. is going big for this prequel film, hoping that it can launch a new ‘Mad Max’ franchise for the studio. And with actors like this, there’s definitely going to be plenty of interest in what Miller has up his sleeve next.
