If there’s one person on the planet who probably won’t be in any hurry to see "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," it’s George Lucas. The creator of this particular faraway galaxy sold Lucasfilm to Disney for a cool $4 billion dollars, and ever since, he’s put some distance between himself and his baby. When the very first teaser for ‘The Force Awakens’ dropped, Lucas didn’t go out of his way to watch it, and frankly, he doesn’t miss the Force, Naboo, lightsabres, droids, etc. Chatting with Vanity Fair, the director explains why he left "Star Wars," and seems pretty weary of the entire series.

“You go to make a movie, and all you do is get criticized, and people try and make decisions about what you’re going to do before you do it," he said. "It’s not much fun, and you can’t experiment. You can’t do anything. You have to do it a certain way. I don’t like that, and I never did. I started out in experimental films and I want to go back to experimental films, but of course, nobody wants to see experimental films.”
While Lucas probably deserves a bit of room to be bitter, given how hard fans came down on him for the prequels, he’s not without a sense of humor. Asked which character he’d like to be from "Star Wars" universe, he quips, "Jar Jar Binks." Meanwhile, he holds J.J. Abrams to the fire about the fate of Darth Vader’s grandchildren. He also hopes that “the Force doesn’t get muddled into a bunch of gobbledygook.” Lastly, Lucas re-affirms he’ll spend his years going forward making experimental films that he adds likely won’t be seen be large audiences.
