While the world awaits the imminent Coen Brothers reunion (reportedly a horror film!), Ethan Coen is busy at work with partner Tricia Cooke on their second film together, “Honey Don’t!.” The film’s in production now, and Deadline reports that Coen & Cooke had added a slew of new names to their cast list. Among the new players? “It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia” Charlie Day and comedian Billy Eichner, among others. Read on for the full list.
Along with Day and Eichner, newcomers include Lera Abova, Jacnier, Gabby Beans, Talia Ryder, Kristin Connolly, and Lena Hall. Don Swayze, Josh Pafchek, Kale Brown, Alexander Carstoiu, and Christin Antidormi round out the new cast list. They all join previously announced stars Margaret Qualley, Aubrey Plaza, and Chris Evans; so, yeah, “Honey Don’t!” has some star power behind it.
Plot details remain under wraps for the upcoming film, but it’s in the same comedic territory as “Drive-Away Dolls,” so it’s safe to expect something of the zanier variety here. Like that film, Coen directs a script by Cooke (he co-wrote “Dolls”). Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, Robert Graf, Coen, and Cooke produce the film.
Shooting for “Honey Don’t!” is underway in New Mexico now, so it’s safe to expect the film in theaters early next year, like “Drive-Away Dolls” was this year. And after that, the plan is for the Coens to get back together creatively for the first time since “The Ballad Of Buster Scruggs.” Let’s hope it happens.
