Few Prime Video series have caught on like “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan,” Amazon‘s take on the novelist’s everyman CIA analyst. But it’s been three years since the show’s second season. Thankfully, “Jack Ryan” fans don’t have to wait for season three much longer, as Jon Krasinski returns as the CIA operative to Prime Video this December.

The show’s previous seasons saw Krasinski’s Ryan travel to Turkey, the Middle East, and Venezuela. But Season 3 sends Ryan to Europe, where he discovers a conspiracy to restore the Soviet Empire that leads to him being accused of treason.
Here’s the official synopsis for season three, courtesy of Prime Video:
In the third season of the action-thriller series, Jack Ryan is working as a CIA case officer in Rome, when he is tipped off that the Sokol Project, a secret plan to restore the Soviet Empire, is being resurrected more than 50 years after it was thought to have been shut down. Jack embarks on a mission to confirm the intelligence, but things quickly go awry, and he is wrongly implicated in a larger conspiracy. Accused of treason, with a Red Notice out for his arrest, Jack is forced to run from his own government, if he has any hope of uncovering the rogue faction before it’s too late. Crisscrossing Europe as he is hunted by former allies and new enemies alike, Jack races against the clock to stop the cascade of destabilizing conflicts from leading to global catastrophe.
Alongside Krasinski, the third season of “Jack Ryan” sees Wendell Pierce and Michael Kelly return as CIA Officer James Greer and ex-CIA Officer Mike November. Nina Hoss joins the cast as Czech President Alena Kovac, and Betty Gabriel plays CIA Rome Station Chief Elizabeth Wright. Other cast additions for season three include Peter Guinness, James Cosmo, Alexei Mavelov, and Michael Peña.
All eight episodes of “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan” third season premiere on Prime Video on December 21. Watch a trailer for the new season below.
