Jamie Dornan Has Met With Marvel's Kevin Feige About Joining The MCU & Is Inspired By Robert Pattinson's "Clever" Career

To many, Jamie Dornan is best known as the guy from the “50 Shades of Grey” film franchise. But in the years since the final film in that trilogy was released, the actor has branched out quite a bit, with his most recent performance in “Belfastbeing considered a bit awards contender. And according to a new interview with The New York Times, perhaps Dornan is ready to jump into the world of superhero films.

There are some superhero film fans who probably don’t realize that Jamie Dornan was up for the role of Superman in “Man of Steel” back nearly a decade ago before losing it to Henry Cavill. And in the new interview, it’s revealed that Dornan hasn’t written off superhero roles for his future either, revealing that he’s already met with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige about potentially appearing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“I’m more ambitious than I’ve ever let on before,” Dornan said.

He added that part of his ambition now stems from being a party, “It’s like a necessity to deliver and provide, very caveman-esque: I must succeed for these precious little people. Also, since my dad died, it’s lit this extra fire within me, this extra burner of wanting to succeed.”

Part of his superhero aspirations might come from his friendship with Robert Pattinson, an actor who Dornan said is someone with a “clever” career.

“I would be lying if I didn’t admit that I feel like [Pattinson] and his people have played it really cleverly,” Dornan said. “Everything he’s done since ‘Twilight’ has been really smart and beautifully crafted, and those films aren’t financed on his name had he not been in these movies that made billions of dollars.”

Of course, Pattinson has gone from making the “Twilight” films to starring in a bunch of acclaimed indies before now jumping back into blockbusters with “Tenet” and the upcoming DC superhero film, “The Batman.” Similarly, Dornan started strong with ‘50 Shades’ and has starred in a number of smaller films, including his Oscar-contending “Belfast.” All that’s left is for him to land that superhero role.

So, we’ll just have to wait and see if those meetings with Kevin Feige will amount to anything and maybe, just maybe we’ll see Dornan sporting a cape and tights soon enough in the MCU.
