John David Washington, Alicia Vikander & More To Star In New Thriller Produced By Luca Gudagnino

Sadly, this isn’t news on the next Luca Guadagnino-directed film. However, it might just be the next best thing.

According to Deadline, Guadagnino’s protege Ferdinando Cito Filomarino is set to direct a new feature film, produced by the “Call Me By Your Name” filmmaker, and starring one hell of a cast. The film, titled “Born to Be Murdered” will be directed by Filomarino, based on a script by writer Kevin Rice, and is set to star John David Washington, Alicia Vikander, Vicky Krieps, and Boyd Holbrook.

“Born to Be Murdered” is said to follow the story of a vacationing couple that finds themselves in the middle of a violent conspiracy and it’s consequences. The couple will be portrayed by the aforementioned Washington and Vikander. The former is the Oscar-nominated actor that is best known for his role in last year’s “BlacKkKlansman.” The latter is the Oscar-winning actress, who appeared in films like “The Danish Girl,” “Ex Machina,” and “Tomb Raider.”

They’re joined by Krieps, who had a breakout role in the recent Paul Thomas Anderson film “Phantom Thread,” and Holbrook, best known for his roles in “The Predator” and “Logan.”

“‘Born to Be Murdered’ is my take on the manhunt thriller, as inspired by so many movies and books I always admired,” said Filomarino. “I have worked for years in creating its specific tone and story with the tireless support of my writer Kevin Rice, and I am honored to have the extraordinary John David Washington join me to portray the restless and conflicted journey of such a special character.”

He continued, “I am thrilled and to be working with the wonderful Alicia Vikander, the beautifully intense Vicky Krieps, the superb Boyd Holbrook. With this incredible cast and with my unique collaborators, Born to Be Murdered will be a fantastic experience that pushes genre to a new place.”

While Filomarino is probably known for his work on his debut film, “Antonia,” he’s also been the second-unit director on Guadagnino’s recent films “Suspiria,” “Call Me By Your Name,” and “A Bigger Splash.”

No release date has been set for “Born to Be Murdered,” but production is currently underway in Greece.
