No, we still don’t know exactly when Netflix is going to release “The Irishman.” We are fairly certain the film will debut at a fall festival and will arrive on the streaming service with plenty of time to be considered for Oscars. But in the meantime, filmmaker Martin Scorsese is already planning his next feature, “Killers of the Flower Moon.” And according to a report, we now know where the upcoming project will be filmed and who might be joining Leonardo DiCaprio in the cast.
Principal Chief Geoffrey Standing Bear spoke to Tulsa World about the production and dropped some information about the upcoming film.
“I told [Martin Scorsese] we’re all very excited about this movie, and eventually I came to the question that we had been wondering about for a year: Is he going to film here? And he said yes,” Standing Bear said. “And then his producer said, ‘We’re going to film all of it here.’ So that was big news.”
It makes sense that Osage County would be the location of production, considering the film’s plot takes place in the area and focuses on a situation surrounding the Osage Nation. Filming in Osage County is far from the biggest news that Standing Bear was ready to announce. He also let the media outlet know that Robert De Niro has agreed to star in “Killers of the Flower Moon” as William Hale, one of the book’s main characters.
Obviously, this wouldn’t be the biggest shock in the world, considering that De Niro and Scorsese have collaborated numerous times, most recently with the upcoming Netflix film “The Irishman.” Regardless, it’s always great to hear that the actor and filmmaker are combining their talents on a project.
“Killers of the Flower Moon” tells the story of an early FBI investigation about a series of murders on a Native American reservation. The film already has Leonardo DiCaprio attached to star, with Paramount footing the bill.

There’s no release date for “Killers of the Flower Moon” at this time. Update: Deadline confirms De Niro is in negotiations to join the cast.
