Got a Tip?

‘Lincoln’ To Get (Not So) Secret Screening At New York Film Festival On Monday

nullWell, the cat is now out of the bag. The Twittersphere has been speculating for the past day or so about what the New York Film Festival had up their sleeve for their secret screening on Monday. Last year it was a work-in-progress look at Martin Scorsese's "Hugo," and this year too, organizers were hinting that it would be something not quite finished, that would still be a movie no one else has seen. Would it be "Stoker," footage of which was unspooled last night at the festival's tribute for Nicole Kidman? "Django Unchained" perhaps? Or maybe "Promised Land"? Nope. instead it's going to be one of the big Oscar contenders of the year.

Already slated to close out the AFI Fest in November, Steven Spielberg's "Lincoln" will be unspooled. Perhaps we should have seen it coming as just two days later, Spielberg and Daniel Day-Lewis will be doing another one of those Yahoo! conversation things following a special screening of the movie on Wednesday, October 10th at the AMC Loews Lincoln Square 13 in New York City. But it's certainly a way to get the conversation around the movie brewing that is already building again thanks to the much better TV spot that aired last night during the presidential debate.

Tickets for the NYFF screening are already on sale for members of the Lincoln Center, and will open up to the public tomorrow. As for that Wednesday screening…we frankly have no idea — someone want to tip us off? Either way, the awards season journey for "Lincoln" starts here. [Deadline]
