‘Lovecraft Country’ Trailer: Horror Comes To 1950s Jim Crow America For Jurnee Smollett, Micheal Kenneth Williams & More

The team of showrunner Misha Green, and executive producers Jordan Peele and J.J. Abrams bring you HBO‘s latest horror thriller, “Lovecraft Country” The show, set in 1950s Jim Crow America, centers a black man, his friend and Uncle who embark on a road trip in search of his missing father. This begins a struggle to survive and overcome both the racist terrors of white America and the terrifying monsters that could be ripped from a Lovecraft paperback.

The series features Jonathan Majors, fresh off his breakout performance in “The Last Black Man in San Francisco,” and his about-to-be-starring turn in Spike Lee’s “Da 5 Bloods,” Jurnee Smollett-Bell who turned heads in “Birds Of Prey” as Black Canary plus Wunmi Mosaku, Aunjanue Ellis, Michael Kenneth Williams (“The Wire“) and Abbey Lee (“Mad Max: Fury Road“).

From executive producer and showrunner Misha Green, HBO’s new drama series, LOVECRAFT COUNTRY debuts this August. Based on the 2016 novel by Matt Ruff of the same name, the series follows Atticus Freeman (Jonathan Majors) as he joins up with his friend Letitia (Jurnee Smollett) and his Uncle George (Courtney B. Vance) to embark on a road trip across 1950s Jim Crow America in search of his missing father (Michael Kenneth Williams). This begins a struggle to survive and overcome both the racist terrors of white America and the terrifying monsters that could be ripped from a Lovecraft paperback.

LOVECRAFT COUNTRY is executive produced by Misha Green, J.J. Abrams, Jordan Peele, Bill Carraro, Yann Demange (who also directed Episode 1), Daniel Sackheim (who also directed Episodes 2 and 3) and David Knoller (executive producer on Episode 1); based on the novel by Matt Ruff. The show Produced by afemme, Inc., Bad Robot Productions and Monkeypaw Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.
