Maya Hawke On 'Stranger Things' Season 5: "I Would Love To Die And Get My Hero's Moment"

Netflix and The Duffer Brothers haven’t even hit the green light yet for “Stranger Things” Season 5, but fans can’t wait for the show’s fifth and final season. And after the thrilling conclusion of Season 4, the stakes against the citizens of Hawkins, Indiana, have never been higher. So, who will live and die in the final showdown against Vecna?

If Maya Hawke gets her way, then Robin Buckley is on the way out. EW reports that in a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Hawke said she’d love to see her character killed off, so long as she got a “hero’s moment.” “It’s the last season, so people are probably going to die,” Hawke told RS. “I would love to die and get my hero’s moment. I’d love to die with honor, as any actor would.”

Hawke’s mentality sounds slightly different than her costar Millie Bobby Brown, who’s previously joked that the Duffers are “two sensitive Sallies that don’t want to kill anyone off” in the hit series. “I love the way that the Duffer Brothers love their actors,” continued Hawke. “The reason that they write so beautifully for me and for everyone else is because they fall in love with their actors and their characters, and they don’t want to kill them. I think that’s a beautiful quality that they have, and I wouldn’t wish it away.”

Brown’s comments about the Duffers stem from their decision to “kill off” David Harbour‘s Sheriff Jim Hopper in Season 3, only to bring him back the most recent season. Perhaps that was The Duffers plan all along, but they aren’t fazed by Brown’s comments. On the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast, responded, “She said we were ‘sensitive Sallies.’ She’s hilarious… We aren’t “Game of Thrones. This is Hawkins, it’s not Westeros. The show becomes not “Stranger Things” anymore because you do have to treat it realistically, right?”

Well, let’s hope “Stranger Things” doesn’t become “Game Of Thrones.” If the show’s final season ends up as poorly written as the last episodes of “Game Of Thrones,” there may very well be riots in the streets and mass cancellations of Netflix subscriptions, prompting the demise of the mega-streamer and a seismic shift in the streaming landscape. Jokes aside, though, don’t be surprised if a couple of fan favorites perish before “Stranger Things” wraps for good.

Contrary to what Millie Bobby Brown says, The Duffers aren’t scared of killing people off.  Sean Astin‘s Bob, Dacre Montgomery‘s Billy, and Joseph Quinn‘s Eddie have all gotten the axe in the past seasons. And, no, those aren’t spoilers; if you haven’t watched seasons 2-4 of “Stranger Things” yet, then why are you even reading this story?
