Love him or hate him (and many of you are proud to be in either camp), Mel Gibson is still a massive figure in Hollywood. In addition to the various major roles he seems to find himself signing on for almost daily, Gibson is also an Oscar-winning director. In fact, even though his name brings insane debate on social media, the filmmaker’s last directorial effort, “Hacksaw Ridge,” won 2 Oscars and was nominated for 4 more just three years ago.
So, it shouldn’t be much of a surprise that Gibson will likely snag some major A-listers for his upcoming feature “The Wild Bunch.” And according to Deadline, he’s about to do just that.
The report says that Michael Fassbender, Jamie Foxx, and Peter Dinklage are all in talks to star in Gibson’s upcoming remake of the classic Western of the same name. The film, which sees Gibson return to directing for the first time since ‘Hacksaw,’ is written by Brian Bagby and produced by none other than Jerry Bruckheimer. Needless to say, Gibson’s “The Wild Bunch” is poised to be a major blockbuster for Warner Bros.
The Sam Peckinpah-directed original film from 1969 is widely regarded as one of the best Westerns ever created. “The Wild Bunch” focuses on an aging outlaw gang in the early 20th-century, trying to come to terms with the changing times and still resorting to violence, when necessary. The film is known for its graphic violence.

There’s no release date set for Gibson’s “The Wild Bunch,” but the report says that WB is on course to bring the film before cameras by this fall. If that’s the case, we could see the film in late-2020.
