You just can’t see it all at any festival, and while the chatter about the bonkers “Mom and Dad” circulated around TIFF, I just couldn’t fit the Midnight Madness movie into my schedule. But the horror comedy will ready to watch in the comfort of your own home in just a few weeks.

Nicolas Cage and Selma Blair star in the first solo outing by Brian Taylor, better known for his work with Mark Neveldine (the “Crank” movies), and the premise for this one is pretty straightforward: mass hysteria has turned parents into raving psychopaths who want to kill their own children. So yes, it’s the perfect vehicle for Cage’s particular brand of crazy. In fact, there is a scene of Cage singing the hokey pokey song while swinging a sledgehammer. What more do you need to know?
