New 'Andor' Trailer: The First Three Episodes Of New Disney+ Show Arrive On September 21

With “Obi-Wan” come and gone, Tony Gilroy‘s “Andor” is the next “Star WarsDisney+ show to premiere this year. Does it have more hype behind it than the upcoming third season of “The Mandalorian“? Signs point to yes given the epic teaser that dropped in late May (and having Gilroy on board as showrunner doesn’t hurt either).

Well, the hype machine hums and turns once more with a new trailer for the show dropping this morning. And while Disney+ reveals that “Andor” has a new September 21 release, when its first three episodes premiere, the show’s plot remains the same: as a galaxy-wide rebellion against the Empire begins to foment, a young Cassian Andor begins his journey to becoming a rebel spy.

Here’s a new synopsis for “Andor,” courtesy of Disney+:

The “Andor” series explores a new perspective from the Star Wars galaxy, focusing on Cassian Andor’s journey to discover the difference he can make. The series brings forward the tale of the burgeoning rebellion against the Empire and how people and planets became involved. It’s an era filled with danger, deception and intrigue where Cassian will embark on the path that is destined to turn him into a rebel hero.

Diego Luna returns in the series to reprise his role of Cassian Andor from “Rogue One.”  Stellan Skarsgård also stars alongside Adria Arjona, Fiona Shaw, Denise Gough, Robert Emms, and Kyle Soller. Genevieve O’Reilly also returns to reprise her role as Mon Mothma, one of the founders of the Rebel Alliance.  Forest Whitaker returns too as the insurgent Saw Gerrera.

Gilroy, who co-penned the script for “Rogue One,” serves as showrunner and head writer on “Andor.” He also co-directs with Ben Caron and Susanna White. Gilroy’s presence should excite action fans, as he’s the writer behind the first four Jason Bourne films. Gilroy’s masterful 2007 film “Michael Clayton” also demonstrates that “Andor” will have the edge of a political thriller to it.

“Andor” has been moved back an entire month from late August to September 21. Watch the new trailer below.
