Woody Allen has become quite the polarizing figure in Hollywood in the last 12 months. The resurfaced sexual assault allegations leveled against him continue to be costly. In addition to his personal reputation, his professional reputation has suffered a devastating blow from which it will probably never fully recover. Filmed nearly two years ago, his latest film, “A Rainy Day in New York,” was subsequently dropped by Amazon Studios, setting off a gigantic lawsuit, and making the chances of it premiering in America highly unlikely, if not impossible. However, the film will see the light of day in Europe, where it will be released in early October. A new trailer has dropped for the film, as Allen, taking matters into his own hands, has released the movie on Facebook.

The film features a stacked cast which includes Elle Fanning, Timothee Chalamet, Selena Gomez, Diego Luna, Liev Schreiber, Rebecca Hall, and Suki Waterhouse, many of whom have subsequently disavowed the film and donated their salaries to charities following the reawoken controversy that dogged him last year following the #MeToo movement.

And while Allen may not be the most adored figure in Hollywood, the names attached to the project will draw curious regardless of how in tatters his reputation is currently. Though it might only be European ones. Amazon abruptly ended its four-film deal with the director after his adopted daughter, Dylan Farrow, once again came forth with sexual abuse allegations against him during the height of #MeToo which relitigated the entire controversy. Allen denied these claims and filed a $68 million lawsuit against Amazon. Allen’s days as a beloved director might be over in North America, but the speculation is Europe may be kinder to the filmmaker, and he may already be setting up shop there once more following his string of Euro hits like “Midnight In Paris,” and “Vicky Cristina Barcelona.”

In addition to its confirmed release in Italy, “A Rainy Day In New York” will be released in France, Belgium, Spain, the Netherlands, South Korea, and South America. The film is set for release on October 3 in Italy, October 4 in Spain, and unannounced dates in the aforementioned countries are coming. There is currently no word on if the film will ever find its way to North American screens. Watch the first trailer below.
