Thanks to “The Queen’s Gambit,” filmmaker Scott Frank is getting the buzz and acclaim that he has deserved for years. (This is our usual spot where we highly recommend that you go back and watch the Netflix series, “Godless.”) So, the world wants to know what’s next?

Speaking to The Watch podcast, Frank answered that very question, and he teased a number of projects that are going to have film and TV fans excited for years to come. And yes, one of them is a reunion with “The Queen’s Gambit” star Anya Taylor-Joy.

What’s first on his docket is something for Emmy-winning filmmaker Johan Renck (“Chernobyl,” “Breaking Bad,” “Downloading Nancy“), an adaptation of the sci-fi project “The Sparrow” by Maria Doria Russell.

Then, Frank is also working on the development of a “Sam Spade” TV series that he is hoping Clive Owen will star in. And his pitch for the series, which follows the adventures of the protagonist from “The Maltese Falcon,” sounds like it could be pretty incredible.

“What if you do Sam Spade later in life and he’s 60s years old?” explained Frank. “He’s now an ex-pat living in the South of France. His past comes to his past and finds him in this small town. It’s going to be a six-episode series with Clive Owen.”

For fans of his most recent Netflix series, they’ll be happy to know he already has a new project with Taylor-Joy in the works. Frank is working on an adaptation of Nabokov’s Laughter In The Dark” with Anya Taylor-Joy set to star. Frank calls the project “a valentine to movies, I’m going to do it as a film noir and a movie within a movie. And it’s a really nasty, wonderful, thriller.” He hopes to bring in his crew from “The Queen’s Gambit” for this project.

And rounding out his new laundry list of projects, Frank also teased that he’s writing a sequel to his novel, “Shaker.” So yeah, we’d say his schedule is pretty full for the next few years, huh? You can hear the full interview below.
