Sean Bean Admits He Still Hasn’t Watched ‘Game Of Thrones’ Finale & Doesn’t Know What Happens

When the final season of “Game of Thrones” was airing weekly on HBO, it was a cultural event like no other. People were rushing home to make sure they watched the show as it aired because it was surely going to be the topic of discussion immediately after the credits rolled. That sort of immediacy created an issue where it was almost impossible to avoid spoilers unless you watched the show as it premiered or stayed away from the internet until you did. But somehow, through all of that, Sean Bean has yet to be spoiled, though he’s not actively trying to avoid plot points.

That’s right, in a new interview with The Times, when asked about a specific plot point in the “Game of Thrones” finale, Bean explained that he doesn’t know what happens in the end. Why? Well, he didn’t watch the finale of the series that he helped make so famous during Season 1. In fact, he didn’t keep up with ‘Thrones’ after his character was given the early exit during that first batch of episodes. But when prompted with some resolutions from the finale, it appears Bean is happy with at least one of the aspects of the ending.

He said, “So did Winterfell stay separate? Oh, good for them.”

So, while millions and millions of people were actively avoiding “Game of Thrones” spoilers, fearing that their neighbors, family members, or some random person online would openly discuss a plot point, Sean Bean was just living his life, completely out of the loop, even though he played such a pivotal character in the series. It just goes to show you that perhaps avoiding crucial plot revelations in a TV series or film is more about who you surround yourself with and less about spoilers running rampant. We should all strive for the obliviousness of Sean Bean.

Also, we’d be remiss without saying the inevitable joke about how Sean Bean should be happy to have avoided the final couple of seasons of “Game of Thrones” and he should consider himself lucky to miss the trainwreck of the last several episodes. In fact, you could argue that the series really didn’t even reach the same level of shock and awe that was seen at the end of Season 1 in the seven seasons that followed.

But hey, in terms of how it all played out, Mr. Bean is happy to see that Winterfell found its footing. So, there’s that.
