“Shang-Chi” is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, last behind the camera for 2019’s “Just Mercy.”  David Callaham provides the screenplay, his first solo writing effort since 2009’s “Horsemen.” More recent co-writing credits for Callaham include “Wonder Woman 1984” and the upcoming “Mortal Kombat.”

After Marvel Studios postponed Phase 4 several times during last year, the film’s release date bounced around from February 2021 to May, then July, and finally its current release date on September 3.
