People are desperate for any news about what J.J. Abrams and co. are cooking up for “Star Wars: Episode 7,” so even thin rumors from sources like the generally totally out there MarketSaw tend to be speculated upon. But sometimes you just gotta know better, and this appears to be one of those times. With the site claiming that Alfonso Cuaron was being considered to helm one of the sequels, they also casually tossed in this morsel from their source: “…expect Simon Pegg to be involved in some capacity. Can’t say why, but lets just say I have a strong feeling about that.” But the actor himself has addressed those rumors.
“No idea where this silly rumour about me attached to the new ‘Star Wars’ film came from but I can confirm that it’s absolute Bantha poodoo,” he tweeted. Of course, Pegg is noted to be a big “Star Wars” fan, he’s already pals with Abrams, and there will be those who will say “He’s not attached yet” etc, etc. But maybe we can just use this opportunity to say, maybe we can at least be a bit discerning with the endless rumors this franchise will generate in the many, many years to come? So for now, no Pegg getting his lightsabre on.
Anyway, let’s end on a lighter note. In case you missed it, Pegg and pal Nick Frost made their own “Star Wars” movie a couple of years back, and you can watch it below.
