Stanley Kubrick's Unused Script For 'God Fearing Man' Once Again Being Eyed As A TV Series

We just passed the 20-year mark since the death of legendary filmmaker Stanley Kubrick. However, decades after his passing, there are still projects of his still in development, with one looking like it will finally become a series.

Variety is reporting that European production company Media Musketeers has begun development of a new TV miniseries based on the unused Kubrick script for “God Fearing Man.” If you’re a fan of the filmmaker, and a long-time reader of The Playlist, you may remember “God Fearing Man,” when we first talked about the project way back in 2012. In 2014, it was rumored that “Dexter” star Michael C. Hall would star in the series, but since then, there hasn’t been much word.

Obviously, five years later, this is an entirely new take on the script, which is based on the Herbert Emerson Wilson novel of the same name. “God Fearing Man” tells the true story of a Canadian church minister that turns to a life of crime as an expert safecracker. He then becomes one of the most successful bank robbers in US history.

“God Fearing Man” has a bit more Kubrick DNA in it this go around with “Full Metal Jacket” producer Philip Hobbs aboard to work on the series. Media Musketeers is expected to turn the script into a four-hour TV drama series.

Of course, the production is still in the early stages of development, so its too early to tell which filmmakers and cast will join the series, and which network, streamer, or another type of distributor will sign on to release it. However, with Kubrick’s name attached, clearly “God Fearing Man” will be a series with a lot of anticipation.
