A lot of pundits are talking about how 2024 is destined to be a bad year at the box office. This is mainly because there are fewer big films being released due to the extended worker strikes from last year. That means we could see something like the smaller “The Fabulous Four” get a pretty decent boost.

As seen in the trailer, “The Fabulous Four” tells the story of a group of older ladies who have been friends for most of their lives. And their friendship is put to the test when one of them is having a surprise wedding. Hijinks ensue.
The film stars Bette Midler, Susan Sarandon, Megan Mullally, and Sheryl Lee Ralph. “The Fabulous Four” is written and directed by Jocelyn Moorhouse. The filmmaker is probably best known for her previous films, “How to Make an American Quilt,” “A Thousand Acres,” and “The Dressmaker.” Interestingly, “The Fabulous Four” marks the first film from Moorhouse in nearly a decade.
“The Fabulous Four” debuts in theaters on July 26. You can watch the trailer below.
Here’s the synopsis:
THE FABULOUS FOUR follows three life-long friends (Sarandon, Mullally, and Ralph) who travel to Key West, Florida to be bridesmaids in a surprise wedding of their college girlfriend Marilyn (Midler). Once there, sisterhoods are rekindled, the past rises up again in all its glory, and there are enough sparks, drinks and romance to change all their lives in ways they never expected.
