It’s an unusually quiet Friday, which means we’re going to dive into Tom Cruise‘s broad comments about the “Top Gun” sequel that he promises is happening very soon. With the actor teasing that filming would begin next year, he’s let a few more clues out about the next movie, including the title. Are you ready for it?
“Top Gun: Maverick”
“I didn’t want a number,” Cruise explained about the name to Access Hollywood. “You don’t need a number.” Fair enough.
As for the plot, the actor didn’t spill anything, nor did he say if any co-stars would be returning, only saying that the movie would feature “jets.” Well, duh. All he would say is that his character would essentially face a new challenge, in a familiar setting.
“Aviators are back, the need for speed. We’re going to have big, fast machines. It’s going to be a competition film, like the first one … but a progression for Maverick,” he said.
So, in conclusion, “Top Gun: Maverick” will feature Tom Cruise playing his old character, and it will have jets. Sounds about right…
