'Unsane' Trailer: Claire Foys Gets Delusional In New Horror Movie

It seems everywhere you look recently in film and television, Steven Soderbergh has one project or another kicking around. In addition to releasing his “return” to film with “Logan Lucky” last August, he has produced the Netflix western “Godless,” Amazon coming of age comedy “Red Oaks”, the Starz drama “The Girlfriend Experience” as well as releasing an interactive series with HBO’s “Mosaic” (which is now airing in its linear, limited series form). His newest film, “Unsane” has dropped its first trailer today, and of course it has a unique hook as well — the entire film was shot on an iPhone and stars “The Crown” queen Claire Foy. While we don’t know much about the film, the short synopsis that Deadline provides reads:

Jonathan Bernstein & James Greer wrote Unsane, which centers on a young woman (Foy) who is involuntarily committed to a mental institution where she is confronted by her greatest fear — but is it real or is it a product of her delusion?

If you don’t know the names Bernstein and Greer, that isn’t surprising as their previous credits include the Jackie Chan why did-this-get-made flick “The Spy Next Door” and the I-can’t-believe-this-is-a-thing “Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector.” Though, if we can draw a comparison, Michael Belger and Jack Amiel who created “The Knick” were most previously famous for scripting “Raising Helen”, so perhaps Soderbergh brings the best out of writers.

In addition to Foy, the film co-stars Juno Temple, Joshua Leonard, Jay Pharoah, and Amy Irving. Bleecker Street is releasing the film, in partnership with Soderbergh’s own Fingerprint Releasing. They are presumably using the same model at “Logan Lucky”, in which Soderbergh oversaw all marketing for that film.

“Unsane” opens on March 23rd and will premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival.
