In many of the previous alien invasion films and TV series, the story typically shows what happens when the extraterrestrials arrive on Earth. Most of the time, this involves lots of battles and humans getting nearly wiped out. Well, that is basically the synopsis for “War of the Worlds” Season 1. However, in Season 2, we move past that to see what happens after the invasion.
As seen in the trailer for Season 2 of the modern-day retelling of HG Wells’ “War of the Worlds,” the story picks up six months after the invasion of Earth by aliens. The aliens won, and humanity is nearly destroyed completely, as there are only a handful of survivors left to pick up the pieces. Now, those people have to figure out why the aliens invaded, where they come from, and how to get rid of them.
The series stars Gabriel Byrne, Daisy Edgar-Jones, Léa Drucker, Natasha Little, Stéphane Caillard, Adel Bencherif, Ty Tennant, Stephen Campbell Moore, Bayo Gbadamosi, Aaron Heffernan, and Emilie de Preissac. This new iteration of “War of the Worlds” comes from writer-creator Howard Overman, who is probably best known for his work on “Misfits,” “Crazyhead,” and “Merlin.”
