Watch: 3 New Clips From 'The Program,' Ben Foster Taking Drugs For The Movie "Definitely Damaged" His Body

The ProgramThere are some roles where you can take what’s written on the page, internalize it, and knock out a performance. And then there are others that require a deeper immersion, and for Ben Foster, the Lance Armstrong pic "The Program" was one such gig.

Speaking at the BFI London Film Festival where the film recently made its European debut, the actor admitted to taking performance enhancing drugs as part of his research, and the results were not pretty. Though he says he was supervised by a doctor, and that what he was taking was legal, Foster claims his body was "definitely damaged," and he has strong words for athletes who ingest substances to try and again an edge.

"Go faster, go longer, go stronger. That’s why you take them. And they took drugs because they work. But they also can damage the body very long-term and in very serious ways," Foster said (via THR). "I had a great doctor, which helped me handle some of those consequences. But it took about half a year to get my levels right, and I would say for any athlete, you have to ask, ‘Where are your values?’ "

Below, you can check out three new clips from the "The Program," a featurette, plus a plethora of new images. The movie opens in the U.K. today, and will hit U.S. cinemas in 2016.
