Watch: First Footage And Poster From Duncan Jones' 'Warcraft' Plus The Official Synopsis

WarcraftDuncan Jones has shown a knack for putting his own imprint on genre material with smaller scale efforts like the beloved "Moon," and the time-looping "Source Code." But he makes a major leap with "Warcraft," tackling the video game movie, an arena that has seen many filmmakers struggle to succeed. Can Jones change the game?

We’ll know soon enough as the movie gears up for release next summer, and in anticipation of the trailer that will launch on Friday, a tease has arrived showing the first footage from the movie. And as you might expect, it’s very CGI heavy, but at the same time, it looks like a lot of craft was put into it. As for the story, here’s the official synopsis:

The peaceful realm of Azeroth stands on the brink of war as its civilization faces a fearsome race of invaders: Orc warriors fleeing their dying home to colonize another. As a portal opens to connect the two worlds, one army faces destruction and the other faces extinction. From opposing sides, two heroes are set on a collision course that will decide the fate of their family, their people and their home.
So begins a spectacular saga of power and sacrifice in which war has many faces, and everyone fights for something.

Starring Travis Fimmel, Ben Foster, Paula Patton, Ben Schnetzer, Dominic Cooper, Ruth Negga, Toby Kebbell, Robert Kazinsky, Clancy Brown, Anna Galvin, and Daniel Wu, “Warcraft” opens on June 10, 2016. Watch below.
