After seemingly leaving the DC superhero world behind and doing another zombie film to recalibrate himself, it appears that filmmaker Zack Snyder has a lot of unique ideas for films that he’d like to make in the future. We’ve already heard about his idea for a “300” sequel and a reimagining of the Arthurian Legend. But in an upcoming episode of The Playlist’s own The Fourth Wall podcast, Zack Snyder talked about another idea he has for a film that is a pretty big departure from the capes, cowls, and zombies.

Who doesn’t like a good historical film, especially when it’s centered on an American icon like George Washington? Zack Snyder sure hopes you do. And if you’re someone that isn’t necessarily interested in a history lesson on the big screen, then the filmmaker has you covered, as well, as he would like to add some mystic elements to the equation.
“My buddy and I had been thinking about doing a George Washington movie that was all about that whole time from after he leaves New York to crossing the Delaware and the battle with the Hessians,” said Snyder. “Cause it kinda turns the tide. They were pretty much done at that point. The Battle of Trenton, if that hadn’t worked out, that was pretty much the end of the line.”
He continued, “So we talked a lot about doing that movie. There was a lot of cool things, a lot of sort of mystic and mythological things we were gonna mess around with. We kinda both got busy, but I love it. It’s a cool world. There’s some pretty cool things with Masons.”
Obviously, having a fun idea for a film about George Washington is hardly enough to get a green light from a studio to go off and make it. We don’t even know if there’s more to it than just a discussion between Snyder and a friend. However, if this historical fiction film is something that he’s serious about, it would be an interesting addition to his filmography. If nothing else, it’s a rare film of his that doesn’t feature the aforementioned capes, cowls, and zombies. And for folks hoping that Snyder will venture into new territory, a fantastical George Washington biopic might be just what he needs.
