Margot Robbie Producing A Series From ‘Peanut Butter Falcon’ Directors Starring Kaitlyn Dever & Joey King

The Peanut Butter Falcon” is one of the most underseen, acclaimed films of the last year. The film stars Dakota Johnson, Shia LaBeouf, and Zack Gottsagen and might very well be the most heart-warming, sweet film of 2019. And that is due, in large part, to the filmmaking duo of Tyler Nilson and Michael Schwartz. Now, it appears that the duo is aiming to replicate that success with their upcoming comedy series, “The Wildest Animals in Griffith Park.”

According to THR, Nilson and Schwartz are teaming up with producer Margot Robbie and actors Kaitlyn Dever (“Booksmart“) and Joey King (“The Act“) to bring “The Wildest Animals in Griffith Park” to life. The new comedy series is based on the filmmakers’ experiences secretly living in a park while developing “The Peanut Butter Falcon.”

And it appears that the duo has worked out a pretty clever way to pitch the series to prospective networks. Considering pitch meetings aren’t really happening right now, given the global pandemic, Nilson and Schwartz put together a pitch video featuring Robbie, Dever, King, and pictures of the filmmakers while they were living in the park. In addition, they put in an “audience” of cardboard cutouts depicting Netflix boss Ted Sarandos and Amazon’s Jennifer Salke, among other potential buyers, applauding the pitch. As wacky and silly as the pitch video seems to be, it’s working, as the report claims that various networks and platforms have shown interest.

Of course, the video is only one part of the equation, as the filmmakers have a successful indie comedy under their belt, along with support from two of the best up-and-coming actresses working today, as well as Robbie, who has become a bit of a producing force in recent years.

It’s unclear which network/platform will land “The Wildest Animals in Griffith Park,” but it’s clear that an announcement should be coming soon.
