There’s apparently no clean way back into the country music business, at least not in Shana Feste’s new Netflix thriller “Heartland.” Jessica Chastain stars as Misty Jones, a former country megastar who has retreated from public life until the disappearance of her niece, an aspiring musician, sends her back into Nashville and a world she thought she had left behind.

Feste writes and directs the film, returning to country music territory after previously writing and directing 2010’s “Country Strong.” More recently, she created, wrote, and directed the podcast series “Dirty Diana.”
