‘Heartland’: Garrett Hedlund, Jennifer Nettles & More Join Jessica Chastain In Nashville-Set Country Music Mystery Thriller

Jessica Chastain is getting some company on her upcoming Netflix movie “Heartland” as Garrett Hedlund (“Tulsa King,” “Inside Llewyn Davis”), Jennifer Nettles (“The Righteous Gemstones”), Ross Lynch (“My Friend Dahmer”), and Ben Dickey (“Blaze”) have joined the film’s call sheet.

Other folks playing key roles in the movie are John Hawkes (“True Detective: Night Country”), and country singer Carter Faith as they had been previously announced for the mystery thriller feature that explores the world of country music after a rising musician in Nashville goes missing and her aunt investigates the disappearance.

Deadline revaled the new names added to the project hailing from writer-director Shana Feste, Hedlund reunites with the filmmaker, who previously helmed him in “Country Strong” (another pic set in the world of country music) and was behind the Prime Video thriller “Run Sweetheart Run.”

The outlet also provided a snyopsis for “Heartland”:

Former country megastar Misty Jones (Chastain) comes out of seclusion to investigate the disappearance of her missing niece (Faith), a rising country musician, and must grapple with her own past and Nashville’s seedy underbelly. Her search uncovers a murky side of Nashville where no one, including Misty, is who they seem.

A producing team assembled for the Netflix thriller consists of Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping of Chernin Entertainment, alongside Jason Owen at Sandbox Studios and Randall Poster. Alongside executive producers such as Tracey Cook of Chernin and Jeff Valeri.

“Heartland” certainly sounds like another meaty project for Chastain, with her most recent projects including “Dreams,” the Apple TV show “The Savant,” and the upcoming Rob Savage-directed supernatural horror flick “Other Mommy” coming in out October 9, 2026.
