'Black Panther' Will Get Romantic With Lupita Nyong'o

While “Captain America: Civil War” is one of the best — if not the best — Marvel movies to date, it’s not without its flaws. The film serves as an introduction for Chadwick Boseman‘s Black Panther, and the character is slightly underwhelming. He is presented as a noble politician/superhero, but there’s not much personality to be seen yet in the stoic performance. Still, ‘Civil War’ is the salad before the steak, and the movie certainly isn’t slacking in the casting.

Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o is in talks for the movie, slated to play Black Panther’s currently unnamed love interest, and I’ll leave it to diehard Marvel fans to geek out about who it might be. I’m more intrigued to see Ryan Coogler (“Creed,” “Fruitvale Station“) directing Boseman and Nyong’o, and see him put his mark on the Marvel universe. I’m a little concerned about the set up for “Black Panther” in ‘Civil War,’ but let’s hope the story has a bit more dimension to it.

Cameras roll on “Black Panther” in early 2017, and the movie will open on February 2, 2018. [THR]
