Disney’s Live-Action ‘Mulan’ Is Coming In 2018

There isn’t a childhood memory that Disney isn’t prepared to walk over in its quest to make live-action versions of every animated title in their catalog. And so one more has been added to the calendar.

The studio has announced that the new iteration of “Mulan” will open in theaters on November 2, 2018, marking the original film’s 20th anniversary. Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver (“Jurassic World,” “Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes“) have penned the most recent version of the script for the movie, which is yet to name a director, though I presume one will be forthcoming shortly. This version will apparently be “a more nuanced and elaborate adaptation” and the search is on right now to find a Chinese actress for the lead role.

There are no other movies currently slated on the 2018 date, and given the track record of other Disney live-action movies, it’s probably safe to say that most studios will keep their major blockbusters away from the weekend. [Slashfilm]
