Between this spring’s “Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice” and next month’s “Suicide Squad,” fans of The Dark Knight will be treated to what might be the most revered story ever put to paper — the animated adaptation of Alan Moore‘s “Batman: The Killing Joke.” And today we have three exclusive songs from the soundtrack that brings the contemporary classic tale to life.
Lolita Ritmanis, Kristopher Carter, and Michael McCuistion have all contributed orchestral works to the movie that focuses on villain The Joker, detailing his humble beginnings as a struggling comedian to his fateful encounter with Batman that changes both of their lives forever. Years later, and now escaped from Arkham Asylum, The Joker devises a plan to prove that one bad day can make anyone as insane as he is, and it’s up to the Dark Knight to put a stop to The Joker’s latest scheme and save one of Gotham City’s finest.
The three exclusive tracks featured below — “Jeannie Flashback,” “Storage Unit Corpses,” and “The Halls Of Arkham” — highlight the wide range of moods the soundtrack provides, from thoughtful reflection to chilling tension. It’s great stuff.
WaterTower Music and La-La Land Records will release the “Batman: The Killing Joke” soundtrack on Friday, July 22nd both digitally and on CD, and it’s now available for pre-order at both iTunes and Amazon. The same day, Lolita Ritmanis, Kristopher Carter, and Michael McCuistion will join producer and lyricist James Tucker for the “I Love That Song! Composing, Scoring and Singing Superhero Style” panel at San Diego Comic Con, presented by BMI and White Bear PR, from 1-2 PM.
