Directed by Paul McGuigan (“The Acid House,” “Gangster No. 1,” “Victor Frankenstein“), the film tells the true story of the relationship that developed between legendary actress Gloria Grahame and her much younger lover in the late 1970s, that would change both their lives forever. Here’s the official synopsis:

Based on Peter Turner’s memoir, the film follows the playful but passionate relationship between Turner (Bell) and the eccentric Academy Award®-winning actress Gloria Grahame (Bening) in 1978 Liverpool. What starts as a vibrant affair between a legendary femme fatale and her young lover quickly grows into a deeper relationship, with Turner being the person Gloria turns to for comfort. Their passion and lust for life is tested to the limits by events beyond their control.

“Film Stars Don’t Die In Liverpool” hits TIFF and opens in the U.K. on November 17th. Sony Pictures Classics will release the film in the U.S., and while no date has been set, you can bet it’ll hit screens before the year is out.
