Starring Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner, and based on Ted Chiang’s 1998 novella “Story Of Your Life,” the film follows a linguist who is brought in to help the government communicate when extraterrestrials arrive. If it sounds brainy, it could very well be, but according to Renner, it’s going to have good dose of popcorn entertainment value too.
Renner told USA Today the picture is like “if you blended a [Stanley] Kubrick and a [Steven] Spielberg movie” (which kinda happened with “A.I.“) and it’s not a “big Michael Bay alien movie.” Anything that’s not Michael Bay is fine by me.
“Arrival” opens on November 11th.
