We can debate the blurring of lines between television and cinema all day long, but when someone like Ramin Bahrani (“99 Homes,” “At Any Price“) gets a chance to play with HBO sized money, and an-all star cast, we can’t help but be excited.
The first look at the director’s adaptation of Ray Bradbury‘s dystopian classic “Fahrenheit 451” is here, and it’s enough to have us feeling particularly fiery. The tremendous cast includes Michael B. Jordan, Michael Shannon, Laura Harrier, Sophia Boutella and Lilly Singh, in the future set story where media is an opiate, history is outlawed and “firemen” burn books (sounds like the Trump administration’s dream). The film will follow Montag, a young fireman who forsakes his world, battles his mentor Beatty and struggles to regain his humanity.
As you might know, Bradbury’s book was already brought to the big screen by Francois Truffaut in 1966, but the material is certainly ripe for these times. No release date yet for “Fahrenheit 451,” but perhaps we’ll get some news out of San Diego Comic Con.
