While we’ve seen a good number of movies about male parents (well, mostly Liam Neeson) seeking vengeance on those who do their family harm, there have been fewer films with women doing the same. But “Kidnap” adds one more in that category, with Halle Berry in relentless pursuit of the person who takes her son.
Directed by Luis Prieto (who helmed the remake of Nicolas Winding Refn‘s “Pusher“), there’s not much you really need to know about the plot: someone takes Halle Berry’s kid, and she will stop at nothing to get him back.
“Being a parent, I understood this in a very visceral way. I play an ordinary mom forced to act in extraordinary ways,” Berry told USA Today about her performance and what attracted her to the script. “I got to put in a little of what Halle Berry would do in this situation. That was fun.”
“Kidnap” opens on December 2nd.
