HBO Gets Back In The Saddle, Renews 'Westworld' For Season 2

One of the most talked about shows on television, and easily the biggest series HBO has had on their schedule since “Game Of Thrones,” it was only a matter of time until the network renewed “Westworld” for season two. And following last night’s jaw-dropping episode (don’t worry, no spoilers) it’s a pretty good moment for them to make the announcement.

HBO has confirmed that “Westworld” will be back for a second season, and critical accolades aside, the numbers for the show are great. The sci-fi western series is averaging a gross audience of 11.7 million viewers, which is even better than what “Game of Thrones” and “True Detective” did during their their first seasons. That’s very impressive, and just when the network really needed a hit, especially after the big flop of “Vinyl,” they got one.

HBO is also giving second series orders to Sarah Jessica Parker‘s “Divorce” and Issa Rae‘s “Insecure,” which is a nice vote of confidence for two shows that don’t seem to have hit their stride just yet. But it seems the network likes the direction they’re going on, and certainly with “Girls” now headed toward the end, they’ll be keeping a couple more shows about women in the roster.

If you haven’t yet saddled up with “Westworld,” now is definitely the time to get on board.
