Based on the strength of the cast, it seems like the newly announced “Kin” is going to be a film to watch out for. Jack Reynor, James Franco, Zoe Kravitz, and Dennis Quaid are signed to star in the sci-fi action thriller, which is set to begin filming in October.

Directed by Jonathan and Josh Baker, “Kin” tells the story of an ex-con and his brother who come across a mysterious weapon and are subsequently hunted by a criminal, the feds, and “otherworldly” soldiers. The film is based on a short film “Bag Man” directed by the Bakers and debuted at last year’s SXSW. The feature is scripted by Daniel Casey, who had uncredited rewrites on “10 Cloverfield Lane.”
Like many of the projects being announced this week and in the days ahead, this one will be selling the film at the Toronto International Film Festival, as producers and buyers look to sell and acquire as much as they can.
