We all really want to know what’s Marvel‘s plan, post-Phase 3. There is so much demand from fans for answers about what’s next in the MCU fans that Marvel head Kevin Feige has had to address the swirling rumors a few times already by stating that there is no plan at the moment to unveil a new phase. However, I’m betting that once we catch “Avengers: Infinity War” next year ,answers will come pouring in and things will become a little more clearer. It says a lot about the quality of films Marvel has given us over the last 10 years that we want to know what’s next for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Now comes this little, but vital, tidbit courtesy of “Guardians of the Galaxy” director James Gunn who claims, in a new interview on Facebook Live (as quoted by SlashFilm), that the third ‘Guardians’ films will set up the MCU for the next two decades:
“Yes, definitely. Nova comes up occasionally as someone we might use. One of the things I’m doing with creating ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,’ it will take place after the next two Avengers movies and it will help to set up the next 10, 20 years of Marvel movies. It’s going to really expand the cosmic universe. We’re going to be setting up new characters. It will be the last movie of this version of Guardians of the Galaxy.”
Wow, quite a statement from Gunn. We do know that, officially and unofficially, these are the rumored or planned post-GOTG3 films: “Black Widow,” “Doctor Strange 2,” “Nova,” “Spider-Man: Homecoming 2,” “Secret Avengers,” “Black Panther 2,” “She-Hulk,” and “Captain Marvel 2. ” It will be interesting to see how Feieg and company tie all these up together, if they even plan on doing that. Phase 3 is supposed to end with the two upcoming ‘Avengers’ films, but it seems like Marvel has a lot more in store for us in the coming years, which has us all giddy with excitement at the prospect of more MCU.
