Film Twitter haaaates the Razzies, the awards organization that lauds or rather lambasts the worst movies of the year — in their subjective opinion of course. But in a year when the world’s worst documentarian, partisan hack and ex-con Dinesh D’Souza — a loathsome troll who spent eight months in jail on a felony charge for for making illegal contributions to a 2012 United States Senate campaign — gets fully roasted, hey, bring on the Razzies.
The 37th Annual Razzie Awards revealed their “winners” this morning and leading the pack with four trophies each were “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” (also on our year end worst list) and the hit job “Hillary’s America” by the aforementioned propaganda filmmaker (who makes Michael Moore look like the Maysles). It’s all subjective of course, and some of the categories are admittedly demented folly, but I feel like the Razzie’s were spot on this year, minus Kristen Wiig, hands down the best part of the awful,”Zoolander 2.” And by the way, if you don’t think Mel Gibson‘s comeback is complete (for better or worse and mostly worse), in a year where the Oscars celebrate you and the Razzies forgive you, you know you’re officially out of Hollywood jail.
