With “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” landing on digital this week, we’re surely on the cusp of tons of supercuts and video essays about the prequel/spinoff, but perhaps the most important one has already emerged.
Vimeo user Barre Fong (who will hopefully not incur the wrath of Lucasfilm) has connected the ending of ‘Rogue One’ with the beginning of “Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope,” and it’s pretty damn seamless. There was plenty of chatter prior to the release of ‘Rogue One’ about just how close it come to the events in ‘A New Hope,’ and needless to stay, it’s threaded pretty tightly. You can definitely tell a lot of thought from director Gareth Edwards and his team went into how these stories would connect, and it’s pretty cool to see — and kind of makes you want to fire up a double bill right away.
