While Reese Witherspoon is still making questionable film choices, she’s lately found acclaim and damn good material on premium TV. “Big Little Lies” was a hit for HBO and scooped up plenty of Emmy nominations, and now the actress is part of a powerhouse package that is grabbing attention all around Hollywood.

Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston have attached themselves to star in a new series, set around the world morning talk shows, and the New York media landscape. It’s safe to say this will be a drama, given that Jay Carson of “House of Cards” fame is attached to write and executive produce the series, and it’s certainly a compelling setting. While the anchor of morning shows are cheery to their audience, behind the scenes it’s a fairly cutthroat business, with plenty of rivalries and lots of money on the line too. It certainly sounds promising.
Big players like HBO and Netflix are said to be kicking the tires on this one, with other networks in the mix too. Meanwhile, “Friends” fans are sure to note that this will be a reunion of sorts — Witherspoon guested as Aniston’s sister on the sitcom years ago, and it seems their friendship (ha ha) has stuck.
