For some movies, people like to know the running time in advance, but the minutes and seconds a movie elapses is hardly an indication of quality. There is a general assumption that longer equals better, particularly when it comes to films from our favorite directors or stories taking place in an expanded universe, but that’s not always the case. Nonetheless, given the scrutiny over the making of “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” the running time will be viewed by some as evidence that everything is fine or everything is terrible, depending on which side of the fence you’re on.

The folks over at Making Star Wars have noted that Australia’s Event Cinemas have a running time for ‘Rogue One’ listed at 133 minutes (2 hours and 13 minutes). This is actually the same runtime as ‘The Phantom Menace,’ and puts it in square in the middle of movie lengths in the rest of the franchise (‘A New Hope‘ is the shortest at 121 minutes, while ‘Attack Of The Clones‘ is the longest at 142 minutes). Again, this likely doesn’t mean anything, but if you wanted to know how long you’ll be glued to the screen, now you know (provided this intel is accurate).
‘Rogue One’ opens December 16th.
