Scarlett Johansson Shares Reservations About Black Widow Movie, Explains Delay

Marvel’s track record with female-led superhero movies is currently pretty much non-existent, with the studio only offering their first standalone in that department with 2019’s “Captain Marvel.” And for many fans, it has been too long a wait, especially considering many have already been calling for Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow to get her own movie for some time now. And it sounds like they’re going to have to keep waiting.

“I’ve talked to Kevin Feige about it. We’re creatively really compatible. I think we both agree that the character is right for a standalone, it’s just a case of timing at this point for both Marvel and myself,” the actress told Total Film.

“Marvel has a really huge roster. They’re looking four years ahead. I also have a lot of things that I want to do,” she cautioned.

Indeed, Johansson even has some doubts whether or not she has the stamina for the solo outing. “[I] don’t know if I have the capacity for it. I think the fans were adamant about it, it could be done. It should be done, probably,” she said.

If and when it happens, the actress promises to give it her all, but it really sounds like a distant project at best. It’s certainly not in Marvel’s upcoming slate of movies, and with “Ghost In The Shell” coming, Johansson may already have another franchise where she’ll be able to scratch the blockbuster movie itch.
