See The First Poster & New Synopsis For Terrence Malick’s IMAX Spectacular ‘Voyage Of Time’

We hope that we one day become as prolific as Terrence Malick is at the age of 72. Though he once went decades between films, Malick has become remarkably prolific in the last five years, with three movies arriving since “Tree Of Life” in 2011, and three more on the way, two of which could be premiering in the fall.

Though “Knight Of Cups” was only recently in theaters, and he’ll soon go into production on the WW2-era “Radegund” (as revealed last week), we know we’re definitely getting something new from Malick soon, as his long-gestating documentary “Voyage Of Time” hits theaters in October, potentially not long after the premiere of “Weightless” (if it is indeed at the fall festivals).

And to prove that “Voyage Of Time” really is coming, Broadgreen has revealed the official synopsis for the film and released the the first poster. The film is set to be revealed in two versions: the first, running at just 40 minutes and narrated by Brad Pitt, will be known as “The IMAX Experience,” shown exclusively on those large format theaters, and is the one confirmed to land in October. There’ll also be a 90-minute “companion feature” narrated by Cate Blanchett, but there’s no firm date on that one yet.

Anyway, take a look at the synopsis and poster below, and we imagine “Voyage Of Time” will be hitting up a fall festival before it hits theaters October 7th, so we’ll bring you our verdict then.

Voyage of Time: The IMAX Experience is a one-of-a-kind celebration of life and the grand history of the cosmos, transporting audiences into a vast yet up-close-and personal journey that spans the eons from the Big Bang to the dinosaur age to our present human world … and beyond. A labor of love from one of American cinema’s most acclaimed and visually exciting filmmakers, Terrence Malick (The Thin Red Line, The Tree of Life), Voyage of Time has been nearly four decades in the making and represents the filmmaker’s first foray into documentary storytelling. The film’s panorama of awe-inspiring images will take you into the heart of monumental events never witnessed — from the birth of the stars and galaxies to the explosion of diverse life-forms on planet earth, including humankind — in immersive new ways that only IMAX can deliver. This is a cosmic experience — a hymn to the glories of nature, life and scientific discovery — in which all the elements come together to form Malick’s most original film to date.

Voyage of Time: The IMAX Experience, a 40-minute, giant-screen adventure narrated by Brad Pitt, which immerses audiences directly into the story of the universe and life itself, will be shown exclusively in IMAX® theatres.
