Steven Soderbergh Lists Everything He Watched And Read In 2016

You’ve already waded through our year end coverage, and pored over your friends’ and family’s various lists on Goodreads and Letterboxd to see what they consumed across 2016, so what’s left? Well, Steven Soderbergh is taking his turn with his annual list of everything he watched and read during the past year, posted on his site Extension 765. And as per usual, it’s fascinating.

It seems that 2016 saw Soderbergh having a mini-David Fincher film festival, watching “The Social Network,” “Panic Room,” “The Game,” “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo,” “Fight Club,” and “Se7en,” but most excitingly, he’s also seen episodes of the director’s upcoming Netflix series “Mindhunter.” It really pays to be pals with Fincher. Soderbergh is also a sports nut, at least for the Olympics, taking in the summer games, and loves his “Dateline” and “48 Hrs” just like your parents. And it looks like the filmmaker, who is known for cutting his movies as he shoots, is already watching edits of his forthcoming “Logan Lucky.”

There are no real big surprises in here from the cinephile, but I’d love to know a) why Soderbergh watched the awful “Sin City: A Dame To Kill For” and b) what he thought.

Check out the full list below.
