It would appear that nothing is going to stop Apple from continuing to finance and distribute A-lister films. In a world where Netflix and other streaming services are tightening their purse strings, Apple is out there making mega deals left, right, and center. And that’s good news for folks like Jennifer Lawrence.
According to Deadline, Jennifer Lawrence is set to star in and produce a new murder mystery film, “The Wives.” And yes, it’s being picked up by Apple Studios. Plot details are slim, but “The Wives” is said to be inspired by the litany of ‘Real Housewives’ series that air on Bravo. You could easily see how this sort of thing checks a lot of boxes, especially with someone like Lawrence topping the bill. The film is said to be scripted by Michael Breslin and Patrick Foley.
An Oscar-winning actor, Jennifer Lawrence is someone who really only makes projects she’s passionate about. She is said to have turned down the new ‘Jurassic Park’ film, but her most recent movie is the raunchy rom-com, “No Hard Feelings.” So, you can see Lawrence is someone who is willing to put her starpower (and producer acumen) to the test with projects she actually is interested in making and not just for a fat check.
Speaking of cherry-picking roles, it appears that “The Wives” will likely not be her next film, as she is currently reported to begin production on “Die, My Love,” the newest film from acclaimed director Lynne Ramsay. Again, not much is known about that project, but a new Ramsay film with Lawrence starring is instantly one of our most anticipated features. It’s also reported that Martin Scorsese’s Frank Sinatra biopic will also feature Lawrence in one of the lead roles.
It’s too soon to know when we might see “The Wives” arrive in theaters, but we can definitely add it to the list of intriguing Jennifer Lawrence films.
