Tom Cruise American Made Trailer

Just in time for the next big Tom Cruise film, “The Mummy,” to hit theaters, a trailer for his next film has landed. This time you won’t find Tom Cruise fighting monsters or hanging from buildings. Instead, in the trailer for “American Made,” we see Tom Cruise as a TWA pilot/drug smuggler.

Tom Cruise and director Doug Liman had a pretty successful collaboration with 2014’s “Edge of Tomorrow,” and in the footage seen from “American Made,” it looks like they might have another decent film on their hands. In the film based on a true story, Cruise plays Barry Seal, a TWA pilot that is recruited by the CIA to help with a rising communist threat in Central America. His work with the CIA leads to Seal being involved with the Medellin cartel and drug smuggling. Definitely not the typical Tom Cruise action spectacle.

The film is directed by Liman, from a script written by Gary Spinelli. Joining Cruise in the cast is Sarah Wright, Domhnall Gleeson, and Jesse Plemons. The film faced some controversy in 2015, during filming in Colombia, when two members of the crew were killed in a plane crash.

“American Made” is set to hit theaters on September 22nd.
