Watch Four Insane, Explosive Minutes Of Footage Of 'Mad Max: Fury Road' Before The Special Effects

The biggest problem with all of these “film is dead” arguments that we’ve had in recent weeks? “Mad Max: Fury Road.” Sure, this summer yielded a disappointing crop of blockbusters, but just last year we had a four-quel/reboot that won rave reviews, did pretty well at the box office and won more Oscars than any other film released in 2015. And it’s a film that, while it used elements of CGI effects, did so much practically that Buster Keaton would have been proud (and frankly, a little bit scared).

If you need reminding of George Miller’s mad genius, a new video has arrived from ESportsTV via Uproxx that features four minutes of raw footage from preproduction tests and pre-VFX shooting from the film that shows just how much insane production value, stunt work and even explosions were done practically.

It’s as exciting in 240 seconds as most big blockbusters have been in two-and-a-half bloated hours this year, and will hopefully serve as a reminder of what you can achieve with a 70-year-old Australian visionary and a team of potentially insane stunt people and drivers. Watch the video below, watch it again, and then go and watch “Mad Max: Fury Road” for the sixth time.
